Terry Liskevych of the Art of Coaching explains that practice doesn't always equal mastery unless the practice is done correctly, consistently and at a high level. The greats, Liskevych says, are great not because they are genetically talented but because they are more dedicated than anyone else in their arena. Liskevych also prepares a "drill guideline" at the beginning of every season with 5 or 6 drills for each skill in the game. He does this for consistency: it's not always about having as many drills as possible, but about performing thousands of the same repetitions.
