Purpose: Use the AcuSpike to train players to hit the ball straight-on in out-of-system plays.
How it works: Set up the AcuSpike in left front facing middle back, simulating a set from an out-of-system play. Attackers will line up behind the 10-foot line and perform several reps each, contacting the ball straight on and directing each swing at middle back. Once players are comfortable with that swing, adjust the player’s position so she must start her approach from farther back. The ball contact should still be straight on.
Variations: Adjust the position of the AcuSpike along the net to simulate different out-of-system sets. Angle the AcuSpike toward the line, then angle, then sharp angle.
Requirements: Several players, an AcuSpike, balls, a coach and a full court
