Purpose: To train setters to stay neutral before each set
How it works: Many setters telegraph their back sets by throwing their hips outward or bending backward prior to a set. To train players to stay neutral, position a setter at the net with a portable setting trainer in the outside right hitting position. From the back court, toss a high ball to the setter. Instruct the player to stay neutral before contact, then set over her shoulder toward the setting trainer. Repeat.
Variations: None
Requirements: One player, a portable setting trainer, one coach, a cart of balls and a half court
