Purpose: To train non-setters how to set a hittable ball to the outside
How it works: At some point, all your players will have to set a ball in a game situation. Help your non-setters learn control and confidence with these two drills.
Drill 1 - Line drill
This constant motion setting drill uses a half-court with four players lined up equally along the 10 ft line. Players set to each other in this order: 2nd player to 3rd, 3rd to 1st, 1st to 4th, 4th to 2nd, then the circuit begins again. After each player sets, she must run and touch the back line then return to her starting position and prepare to set again.
Drill 2 - Triangle drill
In this setting drill, three players form a triangle shape with a fourth player behind the top point. Players move the ball around the triangle counterclockwise with the top point players bump passing and the other two players overhand setting.
Variations: In the triangle drill, have the top point players bump pass poorly to train setters to handle out of system balls.
Requirements: Four players, one ball and a half-court
