Jim Stone shows how star to defender Morgan Hentz is able to manage and control a hard-driven attack by getting her hips under the ball and maintaining an upright torso and platform.
In this play, Hentz drops down to her knees and gets her hips under the ball. This enables the torso to stay upright and manage the trajectory and angle of the platform. Ultimately, the goal of the defender is to make a hittable ball out of an attack. To do so, the defender must be able to reliably control the trajectory of the dig so it can be set and transferred into an attack.
