Clinician: Debbie Brown, former head women’s volleyball coach at Notre Dame
Purpose: To get all players to do every skill in a fun and effective warmup drill
How it works:
Progressing in a circular motion with players moving to a new spot after each ball contact, this drill keeps two balls in play simultaneously, which requires focus and discipline for each separate skill. To start, both servers serve down the line to waiting passers. After receiving their passes, the setters set to the outside hitting positions. Attackers must obviously hit their balls down the line to avoid hitting others. In this video, you’ll see how players move through the circuit in ways that ensure each gets a good warmup in all skills.
Variations: After several minutes, a middle attack can be incorporated
Requirements: 12 players, a cart of balls and a full court
