Jim Stone shares a blocking footwork pattern available for middle blockers when they need to cover a long distance. This blocking style lends flexibility to middle blockers when they're caught off guard by a push set.
Step-hop: After the prep step, the second step is a big crossover step followed by a hop-step to create balance and set up for the vertical jump. Arms should be swinging back before the hop step is performed. The middle blocker likely will have to square up while they're in the air.
