Sock slide gets players comfortable hitting the floor to dig the ball. At the beginner level, this means sliding from the knees, pushing forward with both hands and then with one hand (like you would for a pancake).
With more advanced players, this drill can be done from a standing position – bent knees, low posture. Players take one step, then hit the ground and see who can slide the farthest. Next, they do the same technique with two steps.
The final progression is to move sideways with a step and shuffle, then slide toward the sideline.
