Doane University’s “5 in a row” drill conditions players and provides them with multiple reps. Setters, attackers, diggers all work together to earn points with each successful play.
To set up the drill, Head Coach Gwen Egbert places 2 large boxes on each end line. Setters then deliver “2” sets to attackers whose hits are dug by defenders on the opposite side. After each attempt, players run around the box or to a spot on the court then return to their starting positions.
The constant activity keeps players moving and thinking until they reach the end goal of 17 points.
