How do you get your players to think on the court? Run this drill from coach Kevin Hambly!
The University of Illinois “chaos” drill pits two 6 vs. 6 sides against each other. Players enter the game at right back as the designated setter. Each side works to score points, rotating after each rally. The goal is to identify which offensive player has the best chance to score. Teams should target the opposing player that can be most easily exploited such as a blocking libero or a poor defender.
This drill forces players to make decisions and act quickly in an atmosphere of chaos – much like in a game.
