Jim Stone, head coach of the USA girls' youth national team, presents a 2-ball pepper drill here that trains individual ball control and provides laughs for anyone watching practice.
The drill is fairly basic at the start. Players partner up and assume a traditional pepper position: 1 player is the attacker, the other is the defender. Both players hold a ball. The defender tosses to herself directly overhead, then digs a ball initiated by the attacker. The defender then catches her tossed ball while the attacker sets to herself and restarts the pattern.
Generally speaking, Stone encourages coaches to add variety and additional elements when training ball-handling.
