Juliann Faucette-Johnson, former athlete with the Women's U.S National Team, delves into how to develop blocker vision. Below are two ways to make sure your blockers are reading the set and getting to the pins to block.
- Where's the pass and the setter? The setter will reveal where she's setting with her body language. That means the blocker must closely track the setter's movements with her eyes.
- Perform the drop step: As the setter contacts the ball, the blocker can take a "drop step", which is a preparatory hop to get into an athletic position. This will allow the blocker to move in either lateral direction.
