Clinician: Juliann Faucette Johnson, former athlete with the Women's U.S National Team.
Purpose: A progressive and focused attacking drill that works on a player's high and powerful arm swing.
How it Works: One attacker stands on a box. A coach or player tosses balls to her hitting hand. Before each rep, the attacker prepares for the swing by pulling back the right elbow, keeping the left arm high, and then reaching high to hit the ball and finishing with a strong wrist snap. Advance the drill by removing the box and having the attacker hit balls fed to her by a setter. The player should take a full approach, focusing on keeping a fast arm swing and a strong snap.
Requirements: At least one attacker, one setter, balls and a full court.
