Clinician: Mark Rosen, head women’s volleyball coach at University of Michigan
Purpose: To work on pursuit skills, such as running down unpredictable balls
How it Works: On one side of the net, a coach stands on a box at the left-side hitter position. Three players are in defensive positions on the other side of the net with a fourth holding the Bosu ball in the blocking position at the net. Another teammate stands as a target on that side of the net. The coach starts the drill by hitting a ball off the Bosu and the unpredictable bounces force the defense to chase it down. The goal: two good touches, one dig and one set to target.
Requirements: Five players, a cart of balls, a coach on a box, a Bosu ball and a full court
