The key is for blockers to identify what’s going to happen and make the appropriate moves before the opposing setter touches the ball. In this video, USA Youth National Team Coach Jim Stone explains a drill progression used by Coach Kevin Hambly of the University of Illinois that gets players to:
- Take their eyes off the ball and focus on the hitter’s approach
- Move before the ball is set

Stone also shares the 5 keys that every left front blocker must know. Watch the video to find out what they are!
