In this 6-person drill guided by Terry Liskevych, players focus on serve-receive through all rotations. The primary objective is to achieve error-free transitions through each of the six rotations, demanding a set number of perfect repetitions to complete the drill successfully.
How it works: The drill begins with a team of six arranged in their first rotation on one side of the court. Starting with a serve receive ball, players are challenged to execute two consecutive perfect plays with no opposing team on the other side. Upon achieving this, the team transitions to the next rotation, continuing the sequence. The next progression would be to get a serve receive ball, free ball, and a down ball in each rotation, remaining the same expectation of flawless side out and transition plays.
Focus on flawless repetition: A key aspect of the drill is the emphasis on consecutive successes. Liskevych pushes the team to achieve consecutive error-free plays in all rotations. This process reinforces the team’s ability to perform consistently across the different rotations. The practice mirrors match situations, transitioning from serve receive to free balls, then to down balls, all while maintaining a high level of consistency.
