Laura Kuhn shows how a right side hitter can use the opposing blocker to hit off their hands and get a kill.
A right side hitter can use the block in multiple ways to score a point: by swiping sideways off the block, finishing with high contact to hit off the top of the block, and tipping over the block. Have your hitters practice all these varieties of kills using a strong blocker on the other side to challenge the hitters.
Drill to Practice Using the Block: Give players parameters for each round of hitting. For instance, have hitters hit ten balls cross court, ten balls down the line, ten tips, ten swipes off the block, and ten high and off the hand swings.
