Assistant Coach Sean Byron of the University of Michigan talks about the importance of keeping statistics on each touch to constantly re-evaluate the team’s strengths and weaknesses. Byron says a team’s kill percentage is the paramount statistic in winning in the Big 10 Conference, as long as the serving and passing stats are kept relatively stable. For younger players, Byron advocates that coaches focus on side-out offense for the majority of practice. Focusing on what the team can control should be the focus of every team’s practice plan.
