Just because the technology or information is out there doesn’t mean it’s helpful for every team. In Barnard’s opinion, coaches must determine what’s right for their team and develop an individual methodology for implementing technology.
To help, he provides plenty of insights on currently available technologies, including stat programs, affordable video-delay apps and favorite video apps like Coach’s Eye and Ubersense.
Barnard believes that “learning to watch video is a skill you need to teach your players.” He also talks frankly about the limitations of using stats to guide training: “That’s the art part of coaching. Numbers don’t tell the whole story for your team.”
