Purpose: Teach your blockers to adjust to fast net play with small short-court games. The emphasis is on quick blocking decisions about whether to stay for the joust or pull off the net to cover tips.
How it Works: Four players are on each team, playing inside within the 10-foot line (also known as short court). One player "serves" the ball by setting the ball over the net to the opposing team. Play as you normally would, with three contacts, tipping and attacking. Emphasize savvy blocker decisions: when should they pull off the net to help defenders dig or cover the tip? When should they stay and joust? After each point, go over the blocker's decision making.
Requirements: At least four players, a full court and balls.
