How can you boost your setters’ offensive skills? Get them to develop three good dumps they can execute on command.
Three attack shuttle drill
Purpose: To give setters practice at executing different dump types.
How it works: Setters form a line at the 10-foot line on the right side of the court. A coach stands in the middle of the court with a cart of balls. The coach tosses a high ball to the middle front position. The setter uses the left hand to executes a dump that falls along the net on the opponent’s side in Zone 2 or 3. The coach tosses a second high ball to the setter who then dumps a ball to the opposing team’s doughnut area. The coach tosses a third high ball to the setter who uses the right hand to dump a ball backward into the opposing team’s Zone 4 area. Once a setter executes all three dumps, a new setter takes a turn.
Requirements: One or more players, balls, a coach and a court
