Purpose: Teach players the specifics of ball contact, an explosive approach, and wrist angle.
How it Works: Four or five hitters line up in the outside hitter's position off the net. One at a time, players will self-toss the ball in front of their starting position and fully approach, then take a swing. Challenge players to hit down the line, cross, court, sharp angle (by turning the thumb down) and deep. Once your outside hitters feel comfortable, switch to hitting from the right side and practice the same angles and depths.
Variations: If your players are more advanced, attach an elastic band a foot above the net to challenge players to reach high and jump hard for every attack.
Requirements: At least 2-3 players, a full court, balls and an elastic (optional)
