The AOC Founders provide some invaluable advice for coaches and players on how to deal with and emotionally recover from the unexpected Covid-19 crisis, that immediately shuttered club practices, tournaments and college competition.
Much of a coach's job at every level of volleyball is careful planning: That includes planning lineups, assessing athletes and how many years they have left in the program, and constantly assessing how their program can grow. Now that all competition and practices have been cancelled, including the Summer Olympics, it's time for coaches to be flexible in their planning techniques. Keep an open dialogue with your players about the changing circumstances - as each volleyball career will be affected differently by the sport's temporary shutdown.
More than ever, it's critical that coaches find ways to remain positive and stay creative amidst the uncertainty.
