Clinician: Kirsten Bernthal Booth, head women’s volleyball coach for Creighton University
Purpose: To optimize player health
Being ready for matches goes beyond skills training. Players also need to protect their bodies from injury. Some teams perform jump counting or fill out surveys to assess players’ daily physical health. Using this knowledge, coaches can then limit the activity of a player who isn’t 100%. This prevents injury and makes it more likely the player will be ready for the next match.
