In the “rules” drill, players must evaluate what’s happening on the other side of the net and respond according to what they see.
To start, a coach assigns a rule that players on both sides must follow. Here’s an example: when the left attacker hits, the opposing team must set the ball to the player who dug the ball.
The next progression is to add more rules. As play continues, players must talk to each other so they know which rule to follow.
