Jared Rudiger, Head Volleyball Coach at Fort Collins High School, shares three pointers for how he structures the season after tryouts.
Integrating practices: At Fort Collins, the top 20 players practice together - no matter what team they're on. This promotes a healthy sense of varied competition, surprise and, most importantly, a family dynamic.
Ball control: The first skill that needs to be pegged down is ball control and passing. Once that's been developed, offense and blocking follows.
Offense: Offense is introduced midway through the pre-season. Focus on blocking strategies, line-ups, attacking form and ball placement.
