For the one-foot attacker: there must be trust between the setter and the middle attacker. Flatten the set out and drive it to the outside pin; the attacker should be intercepting the set on its way to the pin and hitting it at its highest point. Slides allow a player to perform a quick, powerful hit - therefore, the setter should drive the set fast to the pin and trust the hitter to connect with the slide.
