What are the advantages of putting your tallest block on the right side? Jim Stone describes just a few ways a tall right side blocker can be the secret key to a great blocking lineup:
- Most of the opponent's attacks will be hit by the outside hitter, so your biggest blocker should be on the right side to block that hitter.
- When hitting a line shot, the hitter hits at the highest point of the set and normally has to hit higher to clear the block. Putting your tallest blocker there will eliminate a lot of line swings.
Remember, this isn't necessarily the best idea for every team depending on your blockers and their strengths. But it's worth a shot to try it out!
