Russ Rose of Penn State University knows that the little things matter in volleyball, including who you choose to pepper with prior to matches and practices. Rose says players should match up with a partner that doesn’t know their tendencies, or knows them but challenges them. Sometimes this means not pairing up with your best friend, or someone who plays the same position as you. Peppering should be a dynamic warm-up that varies shots, hitting tempos and levels of competition.
