Tod Mattox began his coaching career as a JV coach at Hoover High School in 1982. His coaching mentors at the time were Hal Mitrovich and Digger Graybill, two San Diego coaching legends. Mostly due to their influence, the coaching bug hit Tod hard, and over 35 years later, the passion remains.
After his stint at Hoover, Tod moved to Monte Vista High in 1987, where he met his wife, Jane. After 8 years at MV, he moved to The Bishop’s School. Though Tod retired from the classroom in 2017, he continues to coach the girls’ team at Bishops.
In addition to his work as an English teacher and HS coach, Tod has held numerous coaching duties, including: Club Director/Coach of a San Diego, CA - based club (LJK), Assistant Coach for UCSD men, Boys’ Coach at Bishop’s High School, Head Coach at Epic (17’s) and COAST (12’s) volleyball clubs, Coaching Director for Starlings Volleyball Clubs, and contributor to The Art of Coaching Volleyball. read more...
