The Essential Guide to Creating Exceptional Setters

To win matches, you need a strong offense. You can’t have a strong offense without a skilled setter. The problem is that many coaches simply don’t know how to train setters effectively.

After all, a setter does much more than launch balls to hitters. She sets the team’s rhythm, helps attackers get in a flow, filters strategic information to teammates, and makes critical decisions about who to set each time the ball comes over the net.

In the Setter Coaching Certification, you’ll learn beginner to advanced techniques that will boost your setting knowledge—knowledge you can use to turn novice setters who struggle to run plays into smart, savvy court captains your team rallies around.

When you subscribe, you’ll get instant access to 4.5 hours of instruction, video analysis, diagrams and drills from Christy Johnson-Lynch, a former two-time All-American setter and the winningest coach at Iowa State University.

After taking this certification course, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify the 6 athletic qualities to look for in a setter
  • Tap the ONE setting skill that outweighs all others
  • Teach your setters to execute different sets
  • Explain the keys to jump setting and dumping
  • Train your setters to fool the block
  • Fix common setting errors
  • Avoid pitfalls when evaluating your setters
  • ...and more!

You’ll also get transcriptions of each lesson, exclusive 24/7 access to the “members only” online forum, and, if you're a premium member, unlimited entry to the expansive Art of Coaching Volleyball library where you can view an additional 1,500 coaching videos and download valuable coaching resources.

We realize it can be hard to fit a certification course into an already busy schedule. That’s why we made it self-paced, so you can go through it as quickly or slowly as you want. If you’re time-starved, you may want to watch just one or two videos at a time. If you find yourself with a large block of time, you’re welcome to tackle the entire program in one sitting.

Either way, the faster you work through the program, the sooner you’ll improve your offense. Imagine your setter running quick sets that boost your kill count. Or earning an easy point with a well-placed dump. Or fooling a cheating blocker with a set to an open attacker. It’s all possible with the insider secrets you’ll find in the Level 1 Setter Coaching Certification.

If you’re ready to run a more advanced offense and win more matches, this is the tool you need to sharpen your setters’ skills. Are you ready to get started?

FAQ

Q: Who should get certified?

The Setter Coaching Certification Course is for club and school volleyball coaches who want to learn how to effectively train setters. It also serves as a valuable reference for parents who want to better understand the setting role, players making the transition to setter or setters looking to improve their skills, and athletic directors who want to educate their coaches.

Q: Why should I get certified?

While certification is not required for volleyball coaches, it does provide you with immediate credibility. Your commitment to enhancing your knowledge so you can coach at a higher level will positively impact how players, parents and administrators view your skills and expertise. The Setter Coaching Certification Course is especially unique because it teaches you how to train your setters using the same strategies and techniques as one of today’s most successful setting coaches.

You’ll discover which physical and mental attributes to look for in a setter. You’ll learn how to train your setters to execute a variety of offensive plays while fooling the block and earning points. You’ll also find out how to use statistics and intangible factors to evaluate and improve setter performance.

Once you complete your training, we’ll give you a badge and certificate as proof of your advanced understanding of setting. It’s just the tool you need to transform your offense and win more matches.

Q: Why should I buy THIS course?

Setting requires a special combination of physical, mental and interpersonal skills. To give you the best training possible in these areas, we sought out Christy Johnson-Lynch, a former Big 12 Coach of the Year with 23 years of experience. She also happens to be a former two-time All-American setter. That means you’ll get insights from both the coach and player perspectives for a complete 360-degree view of the setter role. In the Setter Coaching Certification, you’ll get insider tips you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll learn drills that will push your setter’s skills to the next level. You’ll discover tools to help you evaluate your setter in a variety of ways, so you can help her reach her full potential. If you want to bring out the best in your setters, the Setter Coaching Certification offers the strategies you need to make it happen.

Q: How do I get the premium price?

When you enroll as a premium member, you’ll get 50% off the course fee. Q: How long will it take me to get through the course?

We know your time is precious. So we designed this course to be easily consumed a little at a time or all at once. The program is self-paced, so you work on it when it’s convenient for you. If you’re time-starved, you may want to watch just one or two videos as your schedule allows. If you’ve got a bit more time to spare, you’re welcome to tackle the entire program in one sitting. Watch time is about 4.5 hours. Add a few minutes more if you plan to take the quizzes required to earn your certification. Important note: To receive your certification, you must complete the course within six months of enrollment.

Q: Do I have lifetime access to the content?

Yes! Once you enroll, you’ll be able to view the course as many times as you like. You’ll also have access to all future updates and any bonus materials we may add later. Just remember that you must complete the course within six months from your date of enrollment. You’ll still have access to the content if you miss the deadline, but you won’t be able to receive the certification.

Q: Where can I use my certification?

Once you complete the course, you’ll receive a digital badge to display your newly earned credentials. Feel free to use this on your website, social media pages, email signature and other marketing channels. You’ll also get a digital certificate to print, frame and display in your gym, home or office.

Q: Will I be able to view the videos in any order?

With the Setter Coaching Certification, each lesson builds on the previous one. The first time you go through it, you’ll need to watch the videos and take the quizzes in order. After you finish the course, you’ll be able to go back and view any video at any time.

Q: What happens if I fail a quiz?

Don’t worry if you don’t do well on a quiz; it won’t go on your permanent record. Just retake it as many times as you need to. The quizzes are designed to test your knowledge, not prevent you from earning your certification.
